Hi Michael,

Thank you for your query. I am sorry it has taken me so long to reply - for some reason your post did not show up on my admin page. However, the conference proceedings from the 1995 conference were published under the title 'Gender Perspectives in Nineteenth-Century Ireland'. The details are available on our Publications page on the website.

Hope that helps.

I wish to enquire if papers are available on the 1995 conference Gender and Nineteenth-Century Ireland (1995) as I am completing my MA in Local History at U.L. and this period and subject are very relevant to my topic.

Recently in connection with Tours I give at Donnybrook Cemetery Ive become interested in 19th Century Irish scientific applications. To be specific research into the background of a family named Blythe, resulted in my discovering the following. The Father of the family(circa 1863) worked at the Dodder Chemical Works. He and his Wife married, had three children, all including the parents had died by 1872.Their address was at Sir John Rogersons Quay, where according to Thoms Directory there were at least three Chemical Works.Where can I find information about the Industrial condition of Dublin at the time?.-----------------It seems obvious that the demise of this family within a short time and at young ages was connected with the Father's occupation and place of residence. Im seeking information on the environmental conditions in Dublin at the time and what if any Factory regulations applied. I note the book title"Science and Technology in 19th Century Ireland" and will consult it.Best Wishes,David neary.

Admiring the time and effort you put into your website and in depth information you provide. It's great to come across a blog every once in a while that isn't the same out of date rehashed material. Great read! I've bookmarked your site and I'm adding your RSS feeds to my Google account.

It appears I will not be able to attend the conference but I would very much like to know if subsequent to the conference there will be a publication? I was also wondering if I could have a copy of the conference catalogue with abstracts of the various papers. I would then be able to contact the speakers if their work is relevant to mine. I can send an abstract of my PhD proposal to you if this is of interest. I will certainly join the society.

Hi Suzanne,
The best way to hear about all our activities is to become a member of the society. Details of how to do this are included on this website. You will then be automatically added to our mailing list and will receive notifications and newsletters. Also, please do follow us on facebook and keep checking the website. And certainly feel free to come to the conference even if you are not giving a paper.
best,
Eadaoin

I would be interested in having my email placed on your contact list. I only noticed your conference yesterday at the National Archives in Dublin rather too late to submit a paper. I am just beginning my PhD on the social networking of the power elites 1850-1880 at NUI Maynooth and would welcome a chance to be involved with the society. Can you let me know when and where seminars or meetings occur?
Sincerely
Suzanne Pegley
